Driving to Fujeirah the Eastern region of the U.A.E for our first staycation trip to the Nour Arjaan Rotana hotel was quite the experience. A road trip which took us 2 hours due to traffic on Emirates road 30 minutes more than the usual travel time. However, upon reaching our frustrated journey to the hotel we were greeted by the friendly staff at the Arjaan property. We were handed our room key card and an welcoming hand shake and complimentary gifts from the manager Maduri on duty, which subsided the agony of the traffic we faced earlier on the Dubai highway.
Our room was a one bedroom with living room and kitchen which was quiet spacious compared to some 5 star hotels that we have stayed in before. The décor was the usual hotel look alike furnishing, clean appealing and welcoming but not anything that would “wow” the eyes. An 88 sqm contemporary room with the Fujairah city view. Facilities include wireless internet connection, IP telephone, a 32 inch LCD in the bedroom and 40 inch LCD in the living room, and a mini bar. Complimentary tea and coffee making facilities was available as well as hairdryer and personal in room safe. What did catch our eyes was the grand mosque stand still in sight a view from our window undergoing its final stages of completion.
DINNING & SLEEP
Due to our arrival late at the hotel we had only 1 hour to catch dinner at the hotel’s Al Murjan restaurant where we were received by the restaurant supervisor Mu’ad a well-spoken Jordanian man who has been employed by the Nour Arjaan over a year. We missed the buffet but our review would be incomplete without a dinner as planned by the management therefore Mr. Mu’ad took the liberty to present us with A la Carte menu from which we ordered the grilled salmon and lobster tail. Sometimes in life there is certain thing that always reminds us of particular segments from the past which is the effect of the delicious lobster tail we felt along with the great tasting spices it was marinated with. Dinner was well served and therefore the only thing we wanted to do now was rest our eyes in the clean sheets folded in our bed spreads waiting in our room 1308.
After a good night of sleep which no one can complain about hotel room experiences because every hotels in any cosmopolitan country invest a great deal in providing the best mattresses, feather light pillows and blankets made out of white cloud and cotton candy soft. We ordered room service for breakfast and were given the choice to pick from their American, Mediterranean and Asian breakfast menu out of which we picked the American with black coffee and orange juice. The food was well cooked and great taste that diminished any word of complaint about the serving. Hence gave us the boost of energy and motivation to get out of our room and enjoy the other services the hotel had to offer.
SPA & GOOD BYE
The swimming pool was a bit too small seemed more like a private pool in the backyard of an Emirates Hill private villa. We skipped the pool and made appointment for the Swedish massage at 12:30 PM. The Swedish massage was great because what we learned is that western massages are all about relaxing the muscles in the body and not the nerves which is aromatic massage technique of the east. However, our massage session ended with a steam bath and shower which brought back the appetite for lunch even after having a hearty breakfast in the morning.
After lunch we packed our bags and were ready to head back to Dubai another hour and half journey and hopefully this time on a Friday we will not catch traffic jam like we did the night before. We did experience sand storm the whole way back but thank God for the bright sunny sky the road felt friendlier than expected even though covered in sand. Overall experience is that the Nour Arjaan was a good experience and the friendly services provided by the staff at the hotel makes up for some of the areas that surely needs work or we felt was not up to the mark.
